LL18.650 tracked machine

GMJ is proud to announce the development of a tracked LL18-650 MEWP.

The challenge was set to develop a MEWP/vehicle combination that would be capable of handling the steep hills and often muddy and swampy conditions of the South Western region of Victoria for Powercor Australia. The result of this was a GMJ LL18.650 mounted to a Canadian manufactured Prinoth Panther T8 tracked vehicle.

The superior design of the Prinoth carrier has allowed for larger approach and departure angles, and a great amount of traction for rough terrain. Some of the key features of the unit include:

  • Ascend/descend slopes up to 31deg
  • Maneuver on side slopes up to 22deg
  • 700mm wide rubber tracks with automatic tensioning to provide optimal contact with the ground
  • Extremely low ground pressure (4.5 psi) resulting in minimal impact on driving surfaces
  • Articulated wheels to follow the terrain to give a smooth ride
  • A fording depth of 1 metre

The unit also was designed so that it can be transported on a low loader trailer while staying within the dimension limits stipulated by the RTA. Furthermore, it is also conditionally registered, allowing for travel on sealed roads between sites.

Tipper Bodies

GMJ has diversified its operations to include the design and manufacture of tipper bodies. We now have the capacity to custom design and construct tipper bodies from a range of materials; from mild steel to stainless steel to Bisalloy, depending on the customer’s requirement.

Working closely with our customers, our experienced 3D CAD drafting team are able to tailor a solution that meets the customer’s specific vehicle and usage requirements.

GMJ – Official Australian Prinoth distributor

GMJ Equipment is proud to be the official Australian distributor for Prinoth tracked vehicles. We have successfully delivered 5 x T8’s mounted with MEWP’s into service throughout Australia. We have also delivered 3 x T6’s in Victoria to assist with firefighting. A soon to be completed T12 with a Pro-line pole borer will be delivered towards the later end of 2020.

The Prinoth units are the most reliable working machinery for extreme applications on extreme terrains. Thanks to their large payload, these vehicles can be equipped with all types of specialized attachments and are perfect for all firefighting, construction and drilling work, pipeline construction, and for the laying and maintenance of power lines. In short, they offer a wide variety of applications for deployment throughout the year under the most difficult conditions. Prinoth tracked vehicles stand out for their very low ground pressure, which allows them to reach places where other wheeled vehicles would inevitably get stuck. Moreover, these vehicles are used for the transport of personnel, machinery and other heavy equipment.

Pole-to-pole function

We can offer a pole-to-pole function on all fly boom units. This is particularly useful when moving short distances frequently (pole-to-pole). The unit can be programmed so that the operator can remain in the basket with the remotes still synchronized. This feature works ideally with spring lockouts as the lockouts can stay engaged when travelling at slow speeds. Also, automatic stabilisation is another great option to couple pole-to-pole with where the legs can be deployed and levelled from within the basket.

Major inspection capabilities

We are pleased to announce that our service division has increased operation and is fully equipped to perform 10 year and 5 year major inspections in accordance with AS 2550.10-2006.

Being the OEM, we have the knowledge and resources to ensure a thorough and efficient overhaul is undertaken, minimising down time while producing a quality outcome. You can rest assured the overhaul will be completed using genuine OEM parts, engineered specifically for your machine.

What we do:

1. The unit is thoroughly inspected by our trained inspectors. Visual and operational checks are performed to gauge the condition of the unit prior to disassembly.

2. The unit is completely disassembled. Components cracked tested and visually inspected for wear or damage.

3. All major components are fully refurbished by either the OEM or GMJ certified professionals. This is to ensure the components are refurbished back to optimum operating standard.

4. Safety upgrades are performed to ensure the unit meets the current Australian Standard for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms AS/NZS1418.10:2011. Major upgrades include the levelling system, deadman system, emergency stops and boom/stabiliser interlocks.

5. The unit is fully repainted and reassembled using new fasteners, hoses and fittings.

6. A complete and detailed function, weight and insulation test is performed, along with a full visual inspection.

7. The unit is supplied with a full report detailing the works undertaken including all test certificates.
